I've been waiting for a really long time for the new True Blood episode to buffer, so I ended up resurrecting long forgotten polyvore drafts. Here are all the ones I've done so far:

'The Notebook' audition tape - Rachel McAdams

There aren't that many actresses I really respect, but ever since 'The Notebook', Rachel McAdams has gained mine and kept it ever since. She's one of the more better names in Hollywood nowadays and also amongst the most talented, though she keeps a low profile in comparison to numerous others.

I was wandering about on youtube (as everyone is prone to doing at some point in their boredom) and found her audition tape for 'The Notebook'.

*sound of a brain spontaneously combusting*

She has been elevated to a new level of awesome. According to the description of the video, she had only recieved the script for 'The Notebook' the night before and so she hadn't had much time to prepare. I've provided it below:

This polyvore set is testimony to my obsession with sequined skirts. It also heavily stresses my not-really-creepy-stalker crush on Ezra Koenig, frontman and vocalist of Vampire Weekend. I'd die of joy if Vampire Weekend came to Hong Kong, but that's about as likely as Barcelona shipping themselves over to my house in a heart-shaped box. =(

Being an ignorant Hong Kong born and bred child, I was only exposed to American Apparel last summer and did not truly appreciate what an amazing brand it was. I did not appreciate my cousins' employee discount at the time either. I did not party and rush over to the promotional store when it opened in Lane Crawford either.

I only realised what an amazing brand it was - is - after all of these amazing opportunities escaped me.

High waisted bull-denim pencil skirts? High waisted swim shorts? Big slouchy jackets? These are all things that are hard to find here- at the moment we're big on drop crouch pants, layering (as always) and it's raining too much to even consider pulling out a twopiece. I was wandering about on the AA website, as I'm prone to doing when I'm bored, and clicked on a button that never really interested me before because it seemed so overdone. This button read 'Lace'.

And now I really, really want not just one lace shirt, but two. (For anyone looking to buy me a birthday present, they're specifically the Jacquard Lace tee in navy and El Salvador in nude). Here are some images of people I thought looked amazing wearing them.

There's something about brown leather that I adore. I think it's mainly because black leather can easily look extremely tacky and gothic, whereas brown leather is just so chillaxed and casual.

My favourite item from this set is the ring. I've found a bigger, zoomed in image of it below.


It's called the Milagrosa ring (in gold and Pacific opal) from a brand called Virgins, Saints & Angels. For those of you who don't know of them (I didn't know of them until ten minutes ago either), they use original Vatican medallions and reconstruct them into crazy pieces of jewellery as seen above. Their other stuff is nice, but their rings are amazing.

But I'm incredibly biased because I love rings in general, so don't take my word as gold. You can check their stuff out here.

I loved 500 Days of Summer.

It wasn't intensely experimental or abstract, which is what I was expecting from reviews I'd seen previously, and I loved that it wasn't a love story- it was a recovery. I don't think there are enough movies out there that are as poignant as it, and I doubt there are any others out there that have a soundtrack as beastly. [The Temper Trap, WHAT UP?!]

Anyways, I digress. This post mainly revolves around me satiating my hormonal teenage lust in regards to Joseph Gordon Levitt- one of the sexiest men to roam the earth. I found a vintage GQ photoshoot spread from 2008 that featured him and supermodel Claudia Schiffer, and shazaaam, what I wouldn't give to be that woman.

Lights is the best canadian to come out of Canada, other than my vertically challenged friend Esme. She's a singer/songwriter who's been around for a few years or so, rocking out her amazing piano hybrid instrument thing, which is apparently called a keytar. Here's a photo of her with this crazy piece of machinery:


It's kind of pissing me off that people are saying she's a rip-off of Owl City because technically, she came first and they're both great artists in their own right. The other thing is that they're both synthpop artists, and since its a genre only the most badass have the guts to explore, it's only obvious that they'd use similar instruments and therefore have similar sounding songs (duh). It's like saying that all of Ke$ha and Katy Perry's songs sound the same- they both belong to the same genre, so of course they sound similar.

Anyways, this was not intended to be a criticise-the-criticisers-of-the-godliest-musicians-on-earth-rant. I actually wanted to spazz about Lights' crazy new video for her song 'Second Go' that looks like buckets full of fun. Fingers crossed that it gets the recognition it deserves and bumps someone less deserving off the charts. =)
